At the Edge of Song v. 1 is the first installment of a two-part concert series which explores iconic 20th and 21st works for voice, violin, viola, and marimba against the backdrop of live improvised visuals. Works by Berio, Scelsi, Ives, Oliveros, and others deploy classical conventions as well as extended techniques, channeling the standards of musical drama set forth in Monteverdi Madrigals while forging a new musical language for a theatricality relevant to the modern age.
