Acclaimed vocalist, poet and composer Lara Solnicki makes her debut at the cell featuring:

A classically trained singer with a four octave range, Lara originally intended a career in opera, receiving a BA and half of an Artist Diploma from The Glenn Gould School/ Royal Conservatory of Music, where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships. In addition, she has studied with dozens of international educators in the fields of classical music, jazz and creative music.
The artists will debut new material from Lara’s third CD, "The One and the Other", to be released in the first quarter of 2018, produced by masterful multi-award winning Canadian musician, producer and composer, Jonathan Goldsmith.
Lara Solnicki Quintet will also perform songs from her internationally acclaimed sophomore CD "Whose Shadow?" released in 2014 on Greg Osby’s Inner Circle Music label, named one of the "Best Vocal Jazz releases of 2015" (−Thomas Cunniffe, Jazz History Online), along with beloved romantic songs from The Great American Songbook.
Honoured as a “world class jazz singer" for her “spellbinding voice”, “boldly unique style” and “mastery of inflection” (− Everett. R. Davis, All About Jazz), Lara Solnicki’s expansive repertoire includes her own poetic modern jazz compositions, creative arrangements of Henry Purcell, Maurice Ravel, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Ralph Towner as well as jazz standards.
Lara is the recipient of numerous CD recording, composition, international residency and professional development grants from the Chalmers Foundation, The Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council and FACTOR. She has released two internationally acclaimed CDs, “A Meadow in December” (2010) and “Whose Shadow?” (2014), and has been featured in CD compilations produced by JAZZIZ magazine (USA), and "For Jazz Vocal Fans Only vol. 1" (Japan).
Lara has been awarded two residencies in New York City from the Ontario Arts Council− The Chalmers Professional Development Project Grant, to develop under Greg Osby (2017), and The National and International Residency Grant to study composition later in 2018 under Finnish pianist and composer Frank Carlberg.
