Tribeca New Music is proud to present the winning scores of the 2018 Young Composer Competition. Piano Trio No. 3: “Ecstatic Samba” (flute, cello & piano) by Kevin Day (age group 21 years old and younger) and Constellations for violin quartet by Ericsson Hatfield (age group 22-35) will be performed on Sunday, December 9 at Nancy Manocherian’s - The Cell theater in NYC. These two works were chosen out of more than 120 submission to the TNM Young Composer Competition.
Additional works on the program include Karakurenai (piano solo) by Andy Akiho; Pañca (violin & piano) by Richard Einhorn (world premiere!); Jhule (violin & piano) by Reena Esmail; Silver Dagger (violin, cello & piano) by Stacy Garrop; Sam & Lilly (violin quartet) by Ericsson Hatfield; Spark (piano solo) by Alex Shapiro; and Song Without Words (guitar & piano) by Randall Woolf (world premiere!).
Performing on the concert will be Mary Rowell, Cyrus Beroukhim, Rebecca Anderson, Anna Elashvili, and Alex Shiozaki, violins; Kaoru Kinata, flute; Emily Brausa, cello; James Moore, guitar; Adam Marks, and Kathleen Supové, piano.
