Jackie Gage Quartet's Jazz Workshop @ the cell

Resident artist Jackie Gage has spent the past few concerts at the cell sharing music from her debut album Siren Songs. Special for this evening, Jackie will present new music that has yet to be recorded. This is a participatory concert, so come one, come all!

About Jackie Gage: A velvet voice, rich as smooth wine... Jackie Gage is a musical storyteller. Her music is emotional, joyous, heart-wrenching, and celebratory. With praise from AFROPUNK, All About Jazz, and Singersroom celebrating her debut album "Siren Songs", you can hear why her music nods to the future of R&B and jazz.

Fresh from her sold out album release at Yoshi's in Oakland, Gage has created a musical identity in her own vein. She recently relocated to New York, where she has already made prominent waves in her field; Jackie has opened for the likes of The Brand New Heavies and El Debarge. She honed her craft during a month-long residency at the legendary Minton's in Harlem, and has found successes and inspiration performing with East Coast legends like Marc Cary.

Though rooted in the jazz vein, she has also been heard performing with LA's electronic disco producer Captain Supernova, as well as rapper Lyrics Born. She can also be seen visiting California regularly, touring the state from Harlow's in Sacramento, down to Catalina Jazz Club and Blue Whale in Los Angeles.

Additional past performances include BB King's in New York, Minton's in Harlem, Philadelphia's South KitchenFillmore Jazz Festival, and San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. Jackie was a 2014 Jazz Search West finalist. She is currently a resident artist at the cell in New York.

Her music has been heard internationally, from KCSMKCRW and Hawaii's CUH, all the way to Jazz FM in England. Her debut album, Siren Songs, impressively reached #43 on JazzWeek charts.

More than this, there's an intimate and hushed feeling present in her live concerts. It's as if she's reading your heart, sharing personal memories of love and loss--at times vulnerable, and equally sweet. It's a show not to miss.
